Tom Tierney

Tom Tierney is one of South Australia's most experienced and respected recreational anglers. Based in Tumby Bay on lower Eyre Peninsula, Tom has achieved almost legendary status in his home waters and has long been one of the state's undisputed competition angling champions.

His awards through involvement with the Australian Anglers' Association are many and include runner up to the overall champion at the 1991 National Convention. This essentially placed him as the second best competition fisherman in the country that year from among hundreds of South Australian and interstate rivals.

Although perhaps not as 'hard core' with competition fishing these days, Tom is still as keen and skilful as ever. He has travelled extensively throughout Australia, fishing for just about everything from trout in Tasmania all the way through to barramundi in the tropics. He's also wet a line in several overseas destinations, including New Guinea, New Zealand, England, Alaska and other parts of the US.

Tom has been involved with the fishing media for over twenty years, contributing regularly to "SA Angler" magazine and appearing on TV programs such as "Rex Hunt's Fishing Adventures" and "Fishing and Boating". He is always first choice as host for many celebrity anglers, including such names as Tony Lockett, Paul Kelly, Mark Ricciuto, Josh Francou and Nigel Smart.

Probably most significantly, however, Tom Tierney is a down to earth guy who enjoys putting other people on to good fishing as much as catching fish himself.
